The Osnabrück Guest Lectureship on Literature and Media Culture aims to bring internationally visible scholars within literary, cultural, and media studies to Osnabrück University. The central component of the guest lectureship is a German-language guest lecture, which aims to ask “big questions” about historical and contemporary literature(s) and media culture(s) in a comparatively “small form,” combining a comprehensive theoretical approach with the greatest possible general accessibility. The guest lectures thus focus on theoretical problems in the context of aesthetics, ludicity, materiality, mediality, multimodality, narrativity, postartificiality or postdigitality that are particularly salient for contemporary as well as historical literature(s) and media culture(s).
The Osnabrück Guest Lectureship on Literature and Media Culture is also linked to the book series Osnabrücker Beiträge zu Literatur und Medienkultur, which is published by De Gruyter in Open Access, and the group of authors of which – in various constellations – consists of previous holders of the Osnabrück Guest Lectureship on Literature and Media Culture.
